The grandson of former prime minister HD Deve Gowda, Prajwal Revanna, is running for reelection to the Lok Sabha from Hassan, a constituency that had elections on April 26.

Following news of an alleged sex scandal involving Hassan MP Prajwal Revanna and the grandson of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda, there has been an important controversy in Karnataka. A special investigation team (SIT) was formed by the Karnataka government on Sunday to look into the alleged scandal in response to a letter written by Dr. Nagalakshmi, the chairperson of the Women's Commission.

In recent days, some supposedly pornographic film recordings featuring Prajwal Revanna had begun to circulate in Hassan.

A first information report (FIR) was filed against Prajwal Revanna and his father, H D Revanna, an MLA for Holenarasipur, on the grounds of alleged sexual harassment. The allegation was made by a woman who worked at Revanna's residence.

The female complainant informed the police that she had seen videos of other victims recounting their experiences and made the decision to come forward and identify the father-son pair.

The woman claimed that during the fourth month of her job, Prajwal Revanna started calling her to his quarters. In a home with six female employees, we felt anxious every time Prajwal Revanna came home. Even our male coworkers advised us to proceed with caution," she stated.

The claim made by the woman was that HD Revanna and Prajwal Revanna assaulted female employees in their houses. "HD Revanna used to call the women to the storeroom and touch them while giving them fruits whenever his wife wasn't around. She said, "He used to take off saree pins and rape ladies. Additionally, according to the complaint, Prajwal Revanna misbehaved with her daughter during a video conversation. The complainant claimed, "My daughter blocked his number after making repeated calls."

The Indian Penal Code (IPC) has the appropriate sections—354A (sexual harassment), 354D (stalking), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (outraging modesty of a woman)—under which the complaint has been filed. It is claimed that Prajwal Revanna departed the nation for Germany. "If Prajwal has left the country, SIT will be in charge of getting him back and carrying out the inquiry. Home Minister G Parameshwara told reporters, "We would not order the SIT to conduct the inquiry in this or that manner.

D K Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister, declared, "We are hanging our heads in shame." "I learned that he has "escaped" from the media. This offense is not forgiven. It's a shameful situation. He is an MP and the former prime minister's grandson. The past prime minister had represented the same constituency that he did. The BJP-led NDA's JD(S) put up Prajwal in the Hassan by-election, which was held on April 26.
