On July 4, 2024, Hemant Soren took the oath of office as the third governor of Jharkhand. The oaths were administered at the Raj Bhavan in Ranchi, under the direction of Governor C.P. Radhakrishnan.

Political Context and Recent Advancements


Hemant Soren was reappointed as Chief Minister after Champai Soren resigned, having briefly assumed the role while Hemant Soren was imprisoned. One of the key figures of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) was Hemant Soren. On January 31, 2024, the Enforcement Directorate arrested him due to legal issues. Since he was detained, his predecessor led the state until June 28, 2024, when the Jharkhand High Court granted Soren bail.

Political Background and Individual Lives


In Nemra, Ramgarh district, Hemant Soren was born into a political family. After the death of his older brother Durga Soren, he initially became active in politics. He served in a number of significant capacities throughout his stint in politics, including deputy chief minister in an Arjun Munda-led coalition government and member of the Rajya Sabha. In 2013, he was initially became Chief Minister with support from RJD and Congress. His lengthy and fruitful career as a state political leader began with this.

Soren first campaigned for office in the 2005 Assembly elections, but was unsuccessful; nevertheless, he was elected in 2009. The JMM party performed admirably in the elections of 2014 and 2019.
